Provenance & Documentation
Structured records for physical artworks.
1. Documentation Framework
artweco supports structured documentation for all listed physical artworks. The purpose is clarity at the point of sale.
- Artist confirmation
- Title, year, medium, dimensions
- Edition details (if applicable)
- Exhibition history
- Previous ownership records
- Condition notes
2. Ownership Records
When an artwork is sold through artweco:
- The transaction is recorded.
- Ownership transfer may be documented.
- A digital record is created and stored securely.
Privacy Note: Collector identities are not publicly disclosed. Ownership records are accessible only to authorized parties.
3. NFC-Based Verification (Optional)
artweco supports optional NFC tagging for physical works. These non-invasive tags link to the artwork’s digital record when scanned.
Physical Tag
- Non-invasive
- Does not damage artwork
- Discreetly attached (back/frame)
Digital Record
- Authenticity confirmation
- Sales history (if disclosed)
- Exhibition participation
The system is designed to support traceability without converting the artwork into a digital token.
4. Limits of Responsibility
artweco provides infrastructure for documentation. Responsibility for the accuracy of artwork data remains with the artist and the representing gallery. The platform verifies identity and participation but does not independently appraise artworks.
